Inaugural charity wine tour raises $720 for a local family in need

Charity wine tour

Our first ever charity wine tour raises $720!

On 29th March, we held our first charity wine tour to raise money for a local family battling cancer.

Touched by the efforts of the Inner West Melbourne community (through the Facebook ‘Inner West Buy, Swap and Sell group #auctiontohelp campaign) to raise money for a family struggling to afford expensive cancer treatment,  we decided to use our skills and resources to raise money by hosting a charity wine tour.

The destination for the tour was the Bellarine Peninsula and guests on board enjoyed a stunning Melbourne day at many picturesque wineries along the Peninsula. First stop on the tour was the beautiful Werribee Gardens and lunch was held at Jack Rabbit Winery – with arguably one of the most spectacular views of any winery.

It is important for us to be able to make a contribution in our community and are pleased to be able to turn what we do best into a way of raising much needed funds for a local family. We were thrilled to raise $720 for a family in need.

This was a cause particularly close to our hearts as Lauren lost her father to brain cancer and we know all too well what this family is experiencing. Lauren’s father also tried new and incredibly expensive treatments not yet covered by the PBS. From our experience we know how much of an emotional toll battling cancer can take, let alone the financial toll it can take.

From our perspective this charity wine tour was a great success and $720 was an incredible first effort on our inaugural fundraiser. We hope to run many more in future!

In total, local efforts to raise money for Claudio to date have reached over $15,000. Donations can continue to be made at http://www.sickortreat.org.au/campaign/7/claudio.
