About Us

We’re a husband and wife team who share a passion for travel and very much heart Melbourne and showing it off to anyone that will look and listen! With the arrival of our two little munchkins, Harrison and Lucy, we have also become family holiday enthusiasts and aficionados.

Our plans of travelling the world have not changed since the arrival of our little monkeys, but have had to be slightly adapted for maximum enjoyment (and sanity!). In Harrison’s first year of life we took on two adventures, to Vietnam and Europe and we have learned a lot along the way. Now we have welcomed little Lucy to our family we are busily planning the next adventure for our family of four. While we know firsthand that travelling with children is doable and rewarding, it’s certainly no walk in the park, and it can be challenging to see all of the sights that you had intended when you are accompanied by little ones.

We have brought our experience back to Melbourne to create I Heart Melbourne tours, specialising in fun and affordable luxury private tours for guests from all walks of life, including families. The good news for families on board our tours is that James, our professional guide is also a professional child restraint fitter (in his ‘spare time’!) so minds can be put at ease that children will be travelling safely and comfortably on board.

James is an expert in his field and will provide guests with vast knowledge of Melbourne and Australia on all of our tours. Whether you are travelling with family or travelling on your own we have a wide range of tours in and around Melbourne that will suit your needs AND we’ll make sure you see Victoria’s gems.

We look forward to sharing our enthusiasm for travel and all things Melbourne with you.

Hello! I’m James

An Englishman by birth but most definitely an adopted Aussie, although I still can’t quite bring myself to support the Old Enemy in the Ashes. I started off life as a town planner but decided to do something a little more fun and adventurous so I became a tour guide. I love to really get beneath the surface of a place: its history, local food and drink, customs, stories, fun facts etc. I’m proud to show off my adopted homeland and my aim is to convey this with enthusiasm and fun in everything that I do.

Ooh yes, like that a lot…
A good curry complete with papadams and onion salad, golf, music, cooking, learning new stuff, friends and family, my slippers, the pub.

Nah, not for me thanks…
Reality TV and liver.

One day I will…
Have a single figure handicap, get fit again, visit South America, successfully grow things in the garden, witness Macclesfield Town FC exceed my perennially low expectations.

Hello! I’m Lauren

A Melbournian who lived in London, made a good judgment call going out for a drink one night with a fella named James, got engaged and imported him back to Oz like a fine wine. But is he ageing like a fine wine…? You be the judge! I would describe myself as a travel junkie, social animal and sustainability geek (having spent many years investigating the sustainable production of raw materials for a UK retailer), and most recently I added ‘mummy of two’ to my CV. The idea of combining my passions for travel, meeting new people and making life enjoyable for families gets me bouncing out of bed every morning. That, and an ‘intensity 5’ coffee capsule!

I heart…
Wearing PJ’s until midday at the weekend, curled up in my sun chair with a magazine in one hand and a brew in the other. Arriving home to my little dog after a long day, witnessing my children’s faces when they learn something new, and zoning out of an evening to a good dose of reality TV. The more mind numbing the better!

What I’d ‘dislike’ on Facebook…
A photo of onion salad, statements about cats being better than dogs, someone eating a tomato like an apple, and hot weather updates when I’m freezing cold.

One day I will…
Stop watching reality TV, get fit again, use vouchers from Scoopon before the expiry date and knock Sri Lanka, South America and South Africa off my bucket list.
